Here and Now focuses on a contemporary multi-racial family: a philosophy professor, his lawyer wife, their three adopted children from Somalia, Vietnam and Colombia, and their sole biological child. This seemingly perfect, progressive family is in actuality harboring deep rifts. Then, one of the children begins to see things others cannot. Is it mental illness? Or something else? The series is a tragicomic meditation on the complicated forces at work on the people today.

Season 1, Episode 01 – “Eleven Eleven”
In the premiere of this darkly comic meditation on the disparate forces polarizing American culture, Audrey puts the finishing touches on her husband’s 60th-birthday party, a milestone Greg is loathe to celebrate, as cracks begin to emerge in their progressive, multi-ethnic family.

Season 1, Episode 02 – “It’s Coming”
Ramon and Dr. Shokrani explore the possible psychic connection between “11:11” and a photograph in the therapist’s office. Meanwhile, Duc gets good feedback about his manuscript, but his mood is dampened by the publisher’s request; Kristen and Ashley run into trouble; and Greg loses his cool in the classroom after receiving a disturbing medical diagnosis.

Season 1, Episode 03 – “If a Deer Sh*ts in the Woods”
Greg gets detoured in the wilderness on the way to an ethics convention; Audrey finds herself in the media crosshairs after a hate crime at school; haunted by a painful memory, Dr. Shokrani looks for unconventional help to get him through a wedding; Kristen’s crush on a predator comes to an end with a hand from Ashley; Duc reveals the secret to staying in control.

Season 1, Episode 04 – “Hide and Seek”
Kristen partners with Navid, Farid’s son, in a school project, and learns there’s more to him than meets the eye. Meanwhile, Greg and Audrey look to the past to find financing for the Empathy Initiative; Farid debates Islam with the mosque’s imam, much to Layla’s chagrin; Ramon worries he may have shared to much with Henry; and Hailey’s birthday celebration has an unexpected conclusion.

Season 1, Episode 05 – “From Sun Up to Sun Down”
Farid has trouble separating professional and personal perspectives after Ramon’s most recent incident. Meanwhile, Kristen and Navid stumble into a potentially incriminating activity; Duc and Carmen make a pledge over tea; and Ashley and Malcolm have dinner with the parents of Hailey’s classmate.

Season 1, Episode 07 – “Wake”
Greg joins Ramon and Kristen at the gaming expo, where “Realms,” and Ramon, attract considerable attention. Meanwhile, bruised by some inappropriate remarks, Duc takes out his frustrations on a fellow biker after a mountain race; Audrey and Steven reminisce about old times and missed opportunities; Ashley questions her place in society, and her relationship with Malcolm; Navid gives Kristen a makeover as the two plot revenge against Madison; and Farid crosses a line in his treatment of Ramon.

Season 1, Episode 08 – “Yes”
Rebuffed by Ramon, Farid finds his growing obsessions disrupting his career and his marriage. Meanwhile, Audrey turns the tables on her husband; and Greg makes a vivid point about life’s meaning during a lecture. Elsewhere, Ramon and Duc turn to Carmen for clarity during difficult times; Ashley is unsettled by a boutique interloper; and Kristen and Navid plot their revenge on Madison and her pals.

Season 1, Episode 09 – “Dream Logic”
Greg and Audrey uncover unpleasant truths about Ramon’s adoption. Kristen and Navid embrace their rare connection, but pay a price. Audrey has second thoughts about Steve after his true intentions are exposed. Ashley considers a lucrative business offer as the chasm between her, Malcolm and Hailey widens. The family celebrates a landmark birthday with cold pizza and honesty.

Season 1, Episode 10 – “It’s Here”
In the Season 1 finale, Ramon goes missing after a disturbing family incident; Audrey clashes with Steve during and after a morning talk show; and Ashley and Malcolm weigh the pros and cons of a corporate future. Meanwhile, Farid’s guilt drives him to extremes, damaging his family ties; and Greg gets enlightenment during a visit with Audrey’s brother Ike.
